The Honorable Judge Lawrence B. Hagel Named Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims

Before HAGEL, Chief Judge, and KASOLD, MOORMAN, LANCE, DAVIS, SCHOELEN, PIETSCH, BARTLEY, and GREENBERG, Judges.

Pursuant to 38 U.S.C. § 7253(d)(1), the chief judge of the Court shall be the judge of the Court in regular active service who is senior in commission among the Court's judges, has served for one or more years as a judge of the Court, and has not previously served as chief judge. The Honorable Bruce E. Kasold served a five-year term as chief judge that concluded August 6, 2015.
The Honorable Lawrence B. Hagel now meets the statutory criteria for chief judge. On consideration of the foregoing, it is hereby ORDERED that effective August 7, 2015, the Honorable Lawrence B. Hagel commence service as the Court's seventh chief judge.
