Benjamin Krause is a veterans rights attorney and journalist representing veterans against the Department of Veterans Affairs. His practice focuses on traumatic brain injury and stroke for medical malpractice and disability compensation. He also represents veterans seeking Vocational Rehabilitation benefits and widows seeking accrued benefits.
In 2015, Krause exposed a shocking 24,000 veteran scandal where VA used unqualified doctors to examine veterans suffering from TBI. That scandal's exposure resulted in VA mandating new exams for every veteran wishing a second look at their condition with claims from 2007 to 2015. It was a $1 billion scandal spanning 8 years. Coverage of the scandal resulted in VA winning the Golden Padlock Award for being the most secretive Federal agency or person of the year.
This was not the first scandal Krause exposed, and his work as an advocate is regularly featured in National press and local outlets. He regularly works with the press to gain coverage of his clients' cases when appropriate.
Krause is a disabled veteran of the US Air Force after serving in its Special Operations Command in Europe. He used VA Vocational Rehabilitation to fund his education at Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude.
