America encourages its citizens to aim high and swing for the fence. But if a person is held back by illness or injury, our society has wisely invested in social safety nets like social security and veteran disability. Disability benefits are designed to give our most vulnerable citizens what they need most: A fighting chance. With regard to dealing with Veterans Affairs, my experience in uniform is with the earliest stages of a VA claim and this gives us the edge when we team with a fellow veteran to maximize benefits.
In addition to disability law, I have specialized in creditors rights representing debt collectors, debt buyers and financial institutions. I litigated and advised on all matters pertaining to regulatory compliance especially the CFPB. Past president of the Va. Creditors Bar, former board member of the National Creditors Bar. Regular presenter at state and at national debt buying and debt collection conferences.
The other hat I wear is that of a US Marine. Prior to collection law, I served as a judge advocate in the Marine Corps to include deployments to Kuwait and Iraq. I've stayed very active in the Marine Corps reserve, currently am a Colonel-select. Instructor for the Marine Corps on operational law, then fiscal and procurement law counsel at the Pentagon and then legal adviser to NATO. At present, I work with wounded warriors navigating the medical separation process.
